Many remember Viktor Korkiya as the author of the epoch-making play The Mysterious Man, or, I am Poor Soso Dhugashvili. Oksana Mysina arguably is Moscow?s finest dramatic actress at present. Now the two have joined together in an amazing creative union. The playwright wrote a tragicomedy called Quixote and Sancho, in which a donkey banters wittily with people and, thanks to his mulish stubbornness, almost always comes out the victor. In this show the actress not only played a male role (Sancho Panza), but also directed. Performing the melancholy knight is Dmitry Pisarenko who, in past years, has worked in various theaters, including Lenkom, the Maly and the Novy Theater. He currently is shooting a made-for-TV movie in which he plays Tsar Bagrat. One more curiosity of this show is the fact that its designer Greta Denisova is a wunderkind. This youthful, 13-year-old artist, the pupil at an art school, has shown her works not only in Russia but in France as well. It would seem this show has everything necessary to be a success. Or a miracle. Whichever pleases you most.
