On October 29 Oksana was photographed by Alexander Meshchaninov for an upcoming issue of “Atmosfera” magazine. The shoot took place at Moscow?s new Hard Rock Cafe. We hope to post some of these photos in Alexander Meshchaninov?s photo gallery on this site in the near future.

Cinema Movement (Kinodvizhenie) TV show:

On October 29, following the photo shoot for “Atmosfera” magazine, Oksana remained in the Hard Rock Cafe where she taped an interview for the new Cinema Movement TV show. This interview will be seen on ORT during the program?s second broadcast tentatively scheduled for Dec. 3. The entire broadcast is expected to be devoted to the heroes of Vitaly Melnikov?s “Poor, Poor Pavel” and will also include interviews with Viktor Sukhorukov and Oleg Yankovsky.

On October 22 at 3 a.m. Moscow time, Oksana Mysina and her husband John Freedman were guests of the Russky Mir (Russian World) TV station (www. rusmirtv.com) which broadcasts in Russian throughout the United States. In addition to telling about their experience in an “international marriage,“ they answered questions for viewers who called into the studio. Oksana discussed her summer performances of “K. I. from ?Crime?“ at the Fisher Center for the Performing Arts in NY and John spoke about his new book, “Provoking Theater: Kama Ginkas Directs“ (Smith and Kraus Publishers) which he co-wrote with Ginkas. In this book, whose genre John defines as “questions and monologues,” Ginkas discusses his brand of theater, his work with texts, actors and designers, and he talks in depth about his work on such famous productions as „Pushkin and Natalie,” „We Play ?Crime?,” „K. I. from ?Crime?” and others. In the book, Ginkas also shares his memories of Joseph Brodsky, with whom he was friendly in the 1960s, and talks in detail about his childhood. Ginkas was a childhood survivor of the Holocaust; he and his family were forced to move into the Kaunas ghetto when he was just 6 weeks old and Kama was one of approximately only 8 children out of the thousands of ghetto residents who survived. The Oksana Mysina Theatrical Brotherhood expects to perform “Quixote and Sancho” on tour in Minsk, Belarus, at the end of November or the beginning of December, 2003. Also planned is a concert of Oxy Rocks in one of the Minsk night clubs.

Oxy Rocks spent two days in the studio in early October. They recorded the songs “Chasing Clouds“ and „God Grant I Don?t Go Crazy.” In both cases, lyrics are by Oksana Mysina and the music is by Yevgeny Vostochny. There are plans to distribute the songs to radio stations once the mixes are complete.

The Georgian playwright Lasha Bugadze is currently completing a one-actress play that he is writing expressly for Oksana Mysina. In a series of readings during the first New Drama festival in 2002, Oksana was the first to perform his short play “Shocked Tatyana“ in the Russian translation of Maya Mamaladze. As part of that festival, she also staged an acted reading of his „Political Play.”

Oksana began rehearsals of Viktor Korkiya?s „Ariston” on Oct. 11. The lead role of Oedipus is being rehearsed by two actors, both of whom are expected to perform in turns once the show opens sometime in January, 2004. The actors are Alexander Kozlov (with whom Oksana performed in Maxim Kurochkin?s “Kitchen” from 2000 to 2002) and Alexander Peskov (with whom Oksana studied at the Shchepkin Institute and who now is an actor at the Pushkin Theater as well as a star of numerous TV movies and series).

The Oksana Mysina Theatrical Brotherhood opened the 2003-2004 season on October 6 with a performance of “Quixote and Sancho” at the Vysotsky Center. Oksana had a surprise for the spectators — she and her rock group Oxy Rocks played a short set in the theater?s courtyard before the show. Photos from the concert will soon be available on this site. Another surprise of the evening was Vladimir Yabchanik?s performance of the role of Orpheus. Vladimir, who is currently one of the stars of the circus review “The Wedding of the Jay Birds,“ is an old friend of the Theatrical Brotherhood. He rehearsed the role of Orpheus before the show opened but left when he was offered one of the leads in the „Nord Ost” musical. Volodya temporarily replaced Sergei Shevchenko, who on Oct. 6 was in Frankfurt, Germany, on a tour with the Bolshoi Theater.
