Run Stretches into Second Half The New York City run of Kama Ginkas's production of K. I. from'Crime', starring Oksana Mysina, entered its final two weeks on Jan. 19. The waiting list for people to get into the sold-out shows is filled for days in advance. Meanwhile, the show has baffled, irritated, delighted and stunned the critics. The New York Times, one of whose critics dismissed the show as a rude, foreign attack on spectators in the first week of the run, had to come back and give the show a second look when audience demand remained so high. On Jan. 22, Another critic wrote this in a rare second review: «The magical Oksana Mysina, who plays Katerina, has the mobile face of a clown. You can read the history of a certain kind of woman in that face…. Ms. Mysina's Katerina embodies a terrible kind of female desperation: the arrogant good manners that give way to hysteria, the sentimentality about your children alongside utter selfishness toward them. This kind of vehement clarity gives foreign-language performance its universal power.» To see a review from the New Yorker magazine, click on Oksana's page and scroll down to the article archive.
